Long Bio
A.M. Wild is a queer, nonbinary, Award Winning children’s book author who believes that books are places where we can collectively hope and heal. Their debut title, Not He or She, I'm Me was named one of the most empowering books of the year by Kirkus (2023), received an American Library Association Stonewall Children’s Honor (2024), and was included in the Rainbow Book List for best in lgbtqia+ youth Books (2025). Two picture books are forthcoming in 2027, Mama, Zaza, and Me, acquired by Henry Holt Books for Young Readers, and The People's Beach, acquired by Kokila.

A.M. holds a B.A. in Literature, Sociology and Philosophy from SUNY Purchase College and an M.F.A. in Poetry from Sarah Lawrence College. Their interest in children's literature largely developed out of their love of reading and writing. As an adult, this turned into a deep appreciation for the myriad ways literacy and self expression can positively influence psychological development, and self-esteem.
As an avid reader, stories have played a vital role in helping A.M. name, claim, and celebrate the identities they hold. They are committed to creating work that celebrates characters on the gender and sexuality spectrum, who have neurodivergencies such as anxiety and depression, and books that celebrate queer families, body diversity, and center social justice as key themes.

In a time of bans on gender-affirming care, right-wing hate-speech over drag story hours, and legislation restricting teachers from fully educating their students, they see the dire need for more books that uplift And connect all communities. They actively collaborate with other queer, gender-expansive, and neurodivergent, and culturally diverse creators in order to provide some of the much needed intersectional representation kids crave AND NEED as they engage in the essential work of becoming themselves. A.M. wholeheartedly believes that when you allow kids to see who they could be, more vivacious, loving, stronger, healthier, and more joyful lives are made.
