AUTHOR | EDITOR | CREATOR
Growing up, I was always able to express myself best through the written word. This passion led me to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing, an opportunity that helped me develop as a writer and hone my artistic voice.
As a queer, nonbinary person, I look within and to my communities for fresh inspiration. For me, books are places where we can collectively hope and heal. To that end, each project I work on is a unique reflection of the world as I see it or dream it could be.
My first picture book, Not He Or She, I'm Me will be released by Henry Holt Books for Young Readers on October 17, 2023. My second picture book, Mama, Zaza, and Me was acquired by Henry Holt Books for Young readers and is currently in production.
I am available for school visits, speaking engagements, offer recurring workshops for new and established writers and work
as an editor on a freelance basis. Please reach out to learn more!
Not He or She, I'm Me
release date: October 17, 2023
They gleefully get dressed, hug their mom, learn at school, and frolic with friends. All the while, happily expressing that they are and can only be themself. The nonbinary experience is brightly illustrated as we follow our main character through their typical day. Bouncy and fun, the story’s refrain reminds readers about gender-neutral pronouns and affirms the identities of nonbinary children—encouraging us all to practice empathy for ourselves and others.
